SERVING SEATTLE SINCE 1984
Hardware is so cool, but Software is the tool.
Seattle Micro supports the core software systems that make networks succeed. We support a range of server systems including certain legacy systems.
With Server Virtualization the server administrator uses a software application to divide one physical server into multiple isolated virtual environments. Windows Server 2022 comes with a very effective way (Hyper-V) of allowing multiple servers to run on a single set of hardware. This allows for better management, performance, compartmentalization of functions, and less dependence on a specific hardware. It’s been a great technology tool for our small business clients.
Benefits of Hyper-V
- Lower capital and operating costs
- Minimize downtime
- Increase IT responsiveness
- Better disaster recovery
- Simplify data center management
MS 365 is the brand name Microsoft uses for a group of software and services subscriptions, which together provide productivity software and related services to subscribers. MS 365 is often confusing due to its name. Is it Microsoft Office? Is it email? Is it “the cloud”? It’s all of the above. While there has been some resistance to this subscription model, the reality is that you probably have and will continue to purchase copies of Microsoft Office. This method can be a great way to assure that even within a smaller business, everyone is using the same versions of the MS Office applications.
We are actively supporting and moving clients to this product, primarily for its email function. You can also have a subscription that gives you the latest version of Microsoft Office applications separately or in addition to a mailbox. Ask us about MS 365 to see how that might improve your office needs.
Seattle Micro supports a range of legacy Microsoft Exchange servers. If you are using an on premise mail server now, talk to us about moving toward MS 365 for reliability and ease of access.
This is the server that you are trusting with your documents. While one often thinks of the hardware in connection with the file server, it is the software that runs the server that is the core of the system. No matter which system you use, file server systems need software updates and other maintenance to run at peak efficiency and you need IT specialists who understand the ongoing nature of file server support.
Dedicated to your primary accounting, database or line of business software, these servers are often directly supported by the manufacturer or a local software specialist. Seattle Micro can provide that important communication link between your key staff and specialty vendors, as we support your overall IT infrastructure.
